Install Voice Chat

For The Few Hardcore uses in-game voice chat to better connect the world and the players within it. Voice chat is optional, but highly recommended because it makes exploration, diplomacy, trading, combat, and everyday interactions feel more natural and immersive.

Install the Mod Loader

Fabric is the lightweight mod loader that allows Minecraft to run client-side mods such as Simple Voice Chat.

Prepare Minecraft

Install and launch Fabric 26.2

Launch the normal Minecraft Java Edition 26.2 installation at least once, then close Minecraft and the launcher.
Open the Fabric Installer you downloaded.
Select Minecraft version 26.2, leave Create Profile enabled, and click Install.
Reopen the Minecraft Launcher, select the Fabric 26.2 profile, and launch it once.

Download the Voice Mod

Choose Simple Voice Chat for Fabric 26.2

Open the Simple Voice Chat versions page and confirm that both filters match the current FTF Hardcore server version.

Download the newest release that supports both 26.2 and Fabric. Keep the downloaded file as a .jar file—do not unzip it.

Minecraft Folder

Move the mod into your mods folder

Open the Windows search bar or press Windows Key + R.
Enter %appdata% and open the folder that appears.
Open .minecraft, then locate the mods folder.
If a mods folder does not exist, create a new folder and name it exactly mods.
Drag the Simple Voice Chat .jar file into the mods folder.

Voice Chat Setup

Join FTF Hardcore and configure your audio

Launch Minecraft using the Fabric 26.2 profile.
Join mc.ftfhardcore.net.
Press V to open the Simple Voice Chat menu.
Follow the setup instructions to choose a keybind, microphone, headphones, speaker volume, and activation mode.

Setup complete

Once configured, nearby players using Simple Voice Chat can communicate with you in-game.

Optional Performance Upgrade

Install Sodium

Sodium is a performance optimization mod similar in purpose to OptiFine. It can improve frame rate and make Minecraft run more smoothly on many computers.

Minecraft 26.2 Fabric

Select the current FTF Hardcore version and the Fabric loader before downloading. Place the Sodium .jar file inside the same mods folder.
